Jan-Jan Van Essche Kesa inspired bomber jacket.
Focus on: The Kesa inspired panelled construction. Kesa is a rectangular garment traditionally worn by Buddhist monks and priests in Japan. As a reminder of the historical Buddha’s own simple patched garment, Kesa are formed from many pieces of the same cloth. Within each garment, the rectangular pieces are typically organized in a series of columns framed by a border with mitered corners. It is this idea of precise panelling and overlapping edges that Jan-Jan used as inspiration.
- Panelled construction with layering and geometric seaming used throughout.
- Rib knit bomber-style collar.
- Button front closure where the button-holes are within the placket seam.
